The Third World Science and Technology Development Forum

The World Science and Technology Development Forum (WSTDF) is hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Since 2019, it has been held annually in Beijing, China. With the theme of science, technology, development, openness, trust and cooperation, the Forum focuses on major topics such as science and technology revolution and industry transformation, technology ethics and technological governance, digital economy, and sustainable development. It has successively invited the Laureates, famous scientists, university presidents, economists, entrepreneurs and other honorable guests to deliver speeches. It releases ten scientific issues every year for the development of human society annually according to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Forum is supported by international organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Council for Science, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), etc.

The Third World Science and Technology Development Forum will be held in Beijing from November 6th to 7th. The Forum, themed on “Openness, trust and cooperation”, will focus on the four main topics “Science: the global public good”, “Innovation: the solution to sustainable development”, “Governance: the foundation of trust and inclusive development”, “Cooperation: the way of meeting challenges”. The event will consist of the plenary session and four thematic sessions on the World Digital Economy, Open Science and Open Source, SMEs Innovation and Development and the Women Scientists. More than 600 prominent individuals from the international science, education and business communities will present at keynote speeches, launch event and high-level dialogues both online and offline.
